IT LOOKED LIKE ANOTHER AWAY-DAY WIN
Another away game and another chance to take home the three points
We flew at them from the off and before Swindon knew it they were 2-0 down. It looked like it was going to be another happy weekend away and a win here would mean one more step towards promotion. We looked strong and precise in front of goal and on the first half display we could beat anybody in this league. I still believe that even though it went tit's up after half-time as we seemed to tire and where a homer referee helped to contribute to the 2-2 result. If that was a penalty then the moon is made of cheese.
Lee Gregory and Steve Morison scored our two goals in the opening fourteen minutes and the Lions with their foot firmly on the pedal Swindon struggled to cope with or to stop the Lions threatening throughout the first half. We did not score again but we had the chances to increase our goal tally and I presume that Swindon were thankful when the half-time whistle blew.
It's the second half and from the off Steve Morison threatened when Shane Ferguson sent in a peach of a cross that was headed just wide of the post. If we had buried that we would have gone on to win the match. I thought we were already going to win the match anyway so was not concerned about this miss at the time but now I understand how important it was.
We were slowly losing control of the game as we appeared to tire and on 63 minutes Swindon were awarded a a very soft penalty when the Swindon player Barry fell to the floor like a fairy when Carlos Edwards breathed on him. The referee with great eagerness awarded a penalty to Swindon who scored and we had 27 minutes to hold on to our 2-1 lead. We nearly did just that but it wasn't to be as the home side scored in the last minute of extra time and gutted, it felt like a loss and it was a long drive home.
